Upcoming April/May Performances

April 2017 -- | Transcending the Flesh: Stirring Liturgical Music this Holy Week |

If you're a fan of sacred music (traditional or modern) you should make an effort to attend the Saturday Vigil and/or Easter Sunday services at Bloor Street United.  Among our selections, the choir will present a piece from the Strathclyde Motets of Scottish composer Sir James MacMillian.  I've got a solo in it; one so mesmerising that the soprano II section forgot to come in with their part during last night's rehearsal! ;)

A snippet of MacMillan's “Pascha Nostrum Immolatus Est” can be heard on this page.  Fortunately for you, it cuts off just before the alto solo – so you can save your mesmerisation for the live performances April 15th and 16th.

May 2017 --  | Babies and Mothers |

I've got two upcoming shows in May, both of which happen to be family centric. The first taking place at the Drake Hotel Underground at 11:00 am on May 9th is Mozart and Lullabies, an event for mom's and their babies to attend together.  The latest news I have is that this event is already sold out.

However, if you can't get tickets for that show, the second concert I'm working on in May is a fundraising benefit for the University Settlement Music & Arts School. This performance takes place on Sunday afternoon May 14th at the Music Gallery in St. George the Martyr Church. I'll be doing some Italian songs by Mauro Giuliani with guitarist Rob Carroll.  Since that also happens to be Mother’s Day, you’ll be sure to hear some music in honour of the occasion.  For more information about the Mother’s Day Faculty Recital, please call 416-598-3444 x243/244 or visit the School’s Facebook page.
